The societal benefit of the project is the implementation of interdisciplinary methods to profile the molecular basis of complex behaviour in immune cells. As T cell-based immunotherapies as well as DC vaccines become a reality in treatment of cancer and infection, the ability to screen for immune cells that are best performers at a complex task represents a key step in integrating machine learning, molecular data science, immunology, and therapeutic medicine towards a better standard of medical care. This research also brings together engineering, physics, and computer science expertise in order to develop innovative biomedical technologies.
